A generous, axial pedestrian promenade mediates between the public street edge and the primary entrance, establishing a deliberate processional sequence. The architectural expression is defined by a restrained and tactile material palette: board-formed fair-face concrete articulates the structural mass, clear-grade timber introduces warmth and precision detailing, and monolithic poured terrazzo flooring reinforces spatial continuity. Expansive, minimally framed glazing maximizes transparency while maintaining a disciplined façade rhythm, allowing natural light to penetrate deep into the interior volumes.
The project reinterprets the traditional backyard as a shared internal courtyard — a central “middle-garden” that organizes views, circulation, and daily life toward the calm heart of the site.
The pool is distilled into a precise rectangular plane of water, reinforcing the strong horizontality and spatial clarity of the original residence.
A skylit timber staircase rises as a sculptural vertical element, leading to the master suite, which overlooks the courtyard and completes the spatial dialogue between private and communal realms.
